Loud bang, door won’t lift
Probably a broken spring. Symptoms, why springs usually get replaced in pairs, and cited price ranges.
Two of the shops on our list are based in Round Rock, and two more Austin-area shops say on their own websites that they cover it. This page covers who those shops are, what to check first when your door quits, and how to tell a real Round Rock shop from a lead-gen listing with “Round Rock” in its name.

Opener vs door problem, and how to decide between repair and replacement.
Sensor vs track vs cable vs spring in two minutes, plus the low-sun sensor problem.
How lead-gen call centers work, and questions that get a straight answer about ownership.
These are stubs, not audits. For each shop we checked the company’s own website on 2026-10-23 for a Round Rock service-area claim (quoted below). We have not verified licenses, insurance, ratings, or prices. Call 2–3 of them and compare quotes.
What we verified: the homepage says “Located in Round Rock, TX, we are 100% locally owned and operated” and that you work directly with owner JD. The FAQ lists Round Rock first among the cities it covers.
What we verified: the homepage says “Based in Round Rock and serving Greater Austin” and “Locally owned and operated.” The contact page lists Round Rock first in its service area.
What we verified: Round Rock is in the service-area list on the contact page (“Serving Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville and surrounding communities”). Not based in Round Rock.
What we verified: Round Rock is in the homepage’s “Proudly Serving the Austin Metro” list. The nearest location it lists is in Cedar Park (1408 N Bell Blvd). Larger, multi-location shop. Community signal is mixed (see below).
Not listed for Round Rock: South Austin Garage Door Repair and Systems. Its site describes a South Austin / Kyle focus, and we didn’t find a Round Rock claim.
The most direct thread we found is “Garage door repair” on r/RoundRock (Dec 2025). Note that it was posted by the account u/Parrotoverhead, which uses the same name as a shop on our list, so read it with that in mind. What commenters said:
Round Rock is a big search market, so the map pack and ads are crowded. These signs suggest a listing may be a lead-gen or national SEO operation. None of them proves it; the lead-gen vs local guide has the full checklist.
Ask on the phone: “What’s your company’s legal name, who owns it, and is the tech your employee or a subcontractor?” A local owner-operator will usually just answer.
On the evening of April 18, 2026, a storm dropped pea- to quarter-size hail across the Georgetown–Round Rock corridor, including near Westinghouse Rd, FM 1460, and SH 130 (NOAA Storm Prediction Center reports; CBS Austin). Dents on steel garage doors are usually cosmetic. If the door binds, grinds, or a section is creased after a storm, though, stop running it and get it looked at. Take photos before any repair if you plan to file an insurance claim.
Much of Round Rock is HOA neighborhoods. For example, Mayfield Ranch requires Architectural Control Committee approval before any repairs, modifications, or improvements begin, and notes that ACC approval doesn’t replace a city permit. Rules vary by HOA. Before you order a replacement door (new color, style, windows), check your HOA’s guidelines; a like-for-like spring or opener repair usually isn’t the issue.
We don’t publish Round Rock-specific prices because we haven’t found a reliable public source for them. Cited Austin-area ranges are in the spring, opener, and off-track guides. VIP’s FAQ says it can often give pricing over the phone, so it’s worth asking any shop for a phone ballpark before they come out.
